Bond through Mutual Discomfort

ACCOUNTABILITY It is a well-known fact that having a workout buddy is the number one predictor of success in any fitness endeavor. There’s just something about answering to someone else about your training and nutrition habits that keeps you on point. When that someone is extra special the motivation can be even stronger – being healthy and fit means you’ll likely be around each other much longer and will enjoy that time together much more! By the way, you and your partner don’t necessarily HAVE TO workout at the same time. Just being on/in the same program together is often enough… TIME TO CONNECT It can be hard for couples to spend a lot of time together these days… Between work, school, family and friends, couples may not see each other as often as they would like. This is where working out together is a great solution. While you might not be spending a ton of actual quality time together you are in it together. Plus, you have the time before and after your workout to support and connect with each other. FRIENDLY COMPETITION There’s nothing wrong with a little friendly competition. In fact, it can be a very healthy thing! By motivating each other to push hard, you will both come out winners. 🙂 Just be sure to keep the competition friendly…and fun! For example, create a challenge where the “winner” gets off dish-duty for a few days or gets to pick the movie for date night.]]>
