<![CDATA[CrossFit Tidal Wave selects one member a month who has shown great dedication and hard work. July we selected Johnny Diaz as our Member of the Month. Johnny (and his trademark hoodie) has been in here without falter or fail for over 3 months now and it truly shows. Johnny's results speak for themselves. So, what brought you to CrossFit Tidal Wave?
I had started to gain interest in Crossfit through a friend of mine after he linked some video on youtube from a random crossfit games, needless to say once I saw the intensity and the level of dedication the athletes in the video had I just had to try it. I heard a month or so before I joined that there was a Crossfit somewhere on the island and then I found you guys on Facebook and the rest is history!
Why did you stay? From my first free trial class I saw the level of knowledge and patience that Shaun had with going through and breaking down movements piece by piece answering everyone’s questions. On top of that everyone in that first class was cheering me on, all i could think was ‘This is AWESOME!”. Once I finished that first class all I could think about was getting back in there, and that feeling hasn’t stopped since.
How long have you been CrossFitting?
About 3 months now.
What do you do out there in the real world?
I’ve been a chef for a little over 9 years now, I started off in a local culinary school then after a few years of working I attended the Culinary Institute of America in NY, I’m currently working as a Chef de Garde Manger at Moody Gardens Hotel.
Do you have a favorite lift? Power or Olympic? Power Cleans, I love em’! I also have a fondness for Deadlifts
Your favorite WOD? Fight Gone BadFavorite Song to do the WOD? Anything Metal, fast loud guitars and lots of screaming!
Any changes to brag about? I’ve lost about 6 inches on my waist since I’ve started and I feel stronger than I ever have in my life.
What are your current goals? I’d really like to get down to 205 it was a goal of mine when I was cage fighting I think this time I’m finally going to see that goal come to light

I cannot praise what Shaun and Taylor have done with this place enough. You and the members have made working out fun for me again and that was something I just wasn’t getting with the “at home” workouts. I can’t tell you how amazing it feels to know that I WILL meet my fitness goals and its because of you guys. I will never be able to thank you enough for helping me get to where I am and to continue pushing me to meet my goals. I LOVE CROSSFIT TIDALWAVE!]]>
