High School Student getting fitter over the Summer so Two a Days aren’t so rough ![/caption] This June Galveston Weightlifting (inside of CrossFit Tidal Wave) will be unleashing it’s Teen Fitness Camp Galveston. Most all high school sports require their athletes to spend time in the weight room. Even teens who do NOT participate in any high school sports can benefit immensely from spending time learning to move well and lift weight properly. There is a growing body of research suggesting the lifelong benefits of starting resistance training at a young age. These range from bone density and muscle mass retention to cognitive and developmental advantages through a person’s lifespan. Summer is the time to ensure that athletes get a head start developing the foundational strength, proper form, and mindset to ensure that their play on the field and time in the weight room is successful and safe. The Galveston Weightlifting Teen Fit Camp Galveston. is a socially interactive strength and conditioning program for Teens between the ages of 12-15 years old. This program utilizes scalable movements suitable for teenagers that focus on pairing fitness with fun. With social tendencies geared towards becoming more sedentary and childhood obesity rising at an alarming rate, we see a need to incorporate health and fitness into the lives of our young adults. This program is designed to build a foundation of fitness to reduce risk of disease, injury and to build athletes in life, sport and fitness. These teens will advance themselves in the 10 general physical skills: endurance, stamina, strength, flexibility, power, speed, coordination, agility, accuracy and balance. Basing many principles off of traditional CrossFit, the Teen Strength Camp covers multiple skills and movements essential for the life of a young adult. Improving your fitness will directly translate into improvement on the field and/or everyday life. By the end of 4 weeks the athlete will have: – A flexible, mobile, functional body: the foundation for injury resistance – Useful strength: strength is the foundation of explosiveness – Knowledge of how to safely use weight equipment and lifting techniques – Knowledge of nutrition and how to fuel the athletic, growing body – Confidence in him/herself – Increased work capacity Rules: A. If a child does not want to participate we “Can not make them”. We will do our best to motivate them to participate but we are here to make fitness a reward not a punishment. B. All sales are final after July 16th. C. If a child does not show proper behavior we will ask you to remove them from the program after 2 warnings. While we are goofy these are serious movements that can hurt people if attention to safety is not paid attention to. D. The age is set in stone. This program is not designed for the learning behaviors of children younger than this. E. Please let the coaches COACH. We are professionals and we encourage our parents to either participate in a CrossFit class or catch up on some reading while the class is going on. A helicopter parent can disrupt the entire learning environment.
